Mountain Chai – Chocolate Mint Dessert Tea
I just returned from a much needed Summer vacation in the Grand Teton mountain area of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. What an incredibly beautiful place! I’m so grateful that our country has preserved that land, it’s a must see for anyone. While staying with family in a nice big house that had the Grand Tetons as the backdrop to our backyard, I served them a fun dessert tea that was a big hit! I now call it Mountain Chai.
So what is Mountain Chai? It’s Chocolate Mint Deliciousness
Well, I took the traditional method of making Indian Chai by heating up water and milk over the stovetop and then steeping my loose tea in the watered down milk. The Chocolate Mint Rooibos (caffeine free herbal blend from South Africa) is so good made like chai. Just boil it in the mixture over the stove for about ten minutes and then add sweetener. I made enough for six adults to have about 8 ounces each.
6 teaspoons Chocolate Mint Rooibos
6 teaspoons Agave Nectar
2 cups whole milk
4 cups water
Blend milk and water in a saucepan over stovetop and bring to boil, being careful not to let it boil over. (I accidentally made it boil over twice!!) In a teabag filter, put the loose herbal tea, Chocolate Mint Rooibos, so that it is contained during steeping. Put the sachet in the pan to brew it for about 10 minutes. Remove the tea and add sweetener, Agave Nectar is great! Serve and enjoy!
